About Mosakahiken Cree Nation
Mosakahiken Cree Nation is a Cree community at Moose Lake in northern Manitoba and a signatory to Treaty 5.
Mosakahiken Cree Nation, known in Cree as ᒨᓵᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Môsâkahikan) and also called Moose Lake, is a Cree community in northern Manitoba. Swampy Cree people moving in from the east settled the area. In 1876, Chief Otinikimaw (also known as Otinekimow or George Beaver) signed Treaty 5 for the Moose Lake band. The Nation has 2,264 registered members, and most of them live on reserve.
The Nation's main reserve is Moose Lake 31A. It also holds these reserve lands:

- Moose Lake 31D
- Moose Lake 31G
- Moose Lake 31J
The land has long supported community life. People in the Moose Lake area work in logging, fishing and trapping, and community members hunt geese and ducks. The Grand Rapids Dam flooded 66% of the territory held by the Moose Lake Cree. In 2008, the Nation and the Province of Manitoba signed a settlement for the damage caused by the Grand Rapids project. Manitoba has also signed a revenue-sharing agreement that returns up to 45 per cent of timber dues to the Nation.
Mosakahiken Cree Nation is a member of the Swampy Cree Tribal Council and Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO).
